Studio Director (Project Director)
About this role:
This senior position is based in our Tokyo office reporting to our Partner and Group Operations Director.
As the Studio Director for Japan, you will have strong responsibility in general project management and operations management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bear fiscal responsibility for projects. This includes full knowledge of the contractual obligations for each project: scope, schedule, budget, fee, payment schedule and T&C.
- You would review and approval of all project invoices and authorization of all project related expenses, including travel.
- Create manhour and cost budget at the start of the project and monitor progress, ensure profits at every stage is managed to achieve maximum profitability on each project.
- Create and monitor project schedule and timeline to ensure efficiency and productivity. Risk management if there are any delays.
- Manage resources (Japan office, oversea teams, temporary resource and external consultants) to effectivity complete projects within budget.
- Review all project team members’ timesheets and maintain allocated time constraints.
- Ensure efficient communication and workflow on intercompany projects.
- Stakeholder management to report monthly to Corporate on project status, staffing requirements, billings, aging, collections, expenses and mitigation proposals of problematic projects.
- Review and assist in design proposals Partner’s approval.
- You are required so travel when necessary.

Below are the minimum qualifications that we expect from you:
- Bachelor or Master degree in Interior Design / Architecture
- 12+ years of experience with experience in hospitality projects
- Strong project management experience
- Strong numerical skills and previous experience in managing project finance and manpower
- Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, AutoCAD, Revit (preferred but not compulsory)
- Fluent in English & Japanese
